Busi Shiba, the MEC for agriculture, rural development, land and environmental affairs, made time to visit Estralita Special School on Friday July 29. Shiba was accompanied by the executive mayor, Friddah Nkadimeng, and Cllr Annah Rankwe.

She said her department is following the government’s lead by making the whole of July a month for Madiba celebrations. The 67 minutes spent at the school were used to clean up the school, decorate the TV room, paint the playground facilities and establish a tower garden.

The MEC also donated a JoJo tank, irrigation pipe, a shade net and a garden maintenance starter pack comprising a bag of manure, a wheelbarrow, rake, spade, and watering cans. Shiba said the legacy of Mandela should remind us that it does not cost much to love. She also urged the guests to grow their own food instead of buying it all the time, especially vegetables.
